“I developed an early connection with nature, growing up with access to a large wooded area just behind my family’s house. Trees were a constant presence in my life as a child. I climbed them, built tree houses in them, collected and made albums with their leaves. I got to know the trees in my corner of the world like I knew the corners of my bedroom.”

“Trees are omnipresent, yet they are unique and mystifying organisms. Every single tree possesses it's own aura that speaks an individual story. Their stories are not immediately apparent with our eyes; they are lost in the confusion of their surroundings. But each tree speaks it's truth. A truth that is mysterious and elusive. In my work, I want to make that truth more visible. I attempt to do that by capturing elements I see and feel, and by using invention, I deconstruct and reconstruct. The results represent what I believe to be a more truthful world that lies between facts and fabrication.”
